We had the pleasure to present the project to other relevant key players in the wind energy sector

On November 14th and 15th the congress and exhibition Offshore Wind Europe was held in London. The event, organized by New Energy Update, was attended by hundreds of leading and emerging players in the wind energy sector from all over the world.

The congress offered us the opportunity to present the most relevant aspects of ROMEO project, which was launched last September. Likewise, we had the chance to know other innovative projects carried out in the wind energy sector and learn from the experience of other important agents.

Our presentation, named “Substructure Monitoring or Inspection? ROMEO Project: methodology and case studies”, took place during the afternoon of the second day and aimed to introduce ROMEO project to the assistants.

The presentation was led by Matti Niclas Scheu, Senior Engineer at Ramboll Wind Towers, and Lorena Tremps, Structural Asset Integrity Engineer at Scottish Power Renewables, both partners of the project.  They explained the key questions of Work Package 1 (Technical specifications & project requirements) and Work Package 4 (Structural condition monitoring), such as relevant aspects of the Failure Mode Effect and Consequences Analysis (FMECA) and structural condition monitoring systems.

We had also the chance to talk about the methodology of ROMEO project and explore it with examples of generic structural failure modes of the submerged section of offshore wind substructures.

It has been a pleasure to take part in the event and to share the last advances related to the project.
